حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشُّعَيْثِيُّ عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا غِلْمَانًا نَعْمَلُ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ فَرُجِمَ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْهُ فَأَتَيْنَا بِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا جَاءَ يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْ هَذَا الْخَبِيثِ الَّذِي رُجِمَ الْيَوْمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَقُولُوا خَبِيثٌ فَوَاللهِ لَهُوَ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ

✧ We were boys working in the market. The Messenger of God ﷺ ordered a man and he was stoned. A man came asking us about him, so we brought him to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, this man came asking us about this wicked one who was stoned today." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Do not say wicked. By God, he is more fragrant to God than musk."
