حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ السَّكَنِ ثنا أَبُو قَحْذَمَ عَنْ أبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أبِي الْأَشْعَثِ عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنِ الْفِتَنِ فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ فَقَالَ «هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عَلَى الْهُدَى» فَقُمْتُ فَلَحِقْتُهُ فَكَشَفْتُ الْقِنَاعَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ فَإِذَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

✧ I was sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was telling us about the trials. A man with a face covering passed by, so he said: “This one and his companions will be upon guidance on that day.” So I got up and caught up with him, and I uncovered the veil from his head, and behold it was Uthman b. Affan. I said: O Messenger of God, this one? He said: “Yes.”
