حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ مَعَ كَعْبٍ إِحْدَى الْعِيدَيْنِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ النَّاسُ ذَهَبَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَعْمِدُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَةَ أَلَا تَعْمِدُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِنِّي أَرَى النَّاسَ يَعْمِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا تَرَى جَفَاءٌ وَقِلَّةُ عِلْمٍ إِنَّ هَاتَيْنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ سُبْحَةُ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ حَتَّى تَكُونَ الصَّلَاةُ تَدْعُوكَ»

✧ I attended one of the two Eids with Ka'b. When the people left, most of them went to the mosque, and I saw him heading toward the house. I said, "O my father, will you not head to the mosque? For I see the people heading to it." He said, "Much of what you see is rudeness and lack of knowledge. These two rak'ahs are the supererogatory prayer of this day until the prayer calls you."
