حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي قَالَ

خَرَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى فَجَلَسَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْإِمَامُ وَلَمْ يَأْتِ حَتَّى إِذَا انْصَرَفَ الْإِمَامُ انْصَرَفُوا ذَاهِبِينَ نَحْوَ الْمَسْجِدِ كَأَنَّهُمْ عُنُقٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَلَا تَرَى النَّاسَ؟ فَقَالَ «هَذِهِ بِدْعَةٌ وَتَرْكُ السُّنَّةِ»

Translation

✧ I went out with my father, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, on the day of Eid to the prayer place. He sat before the imam came, and the imam did not come until when the imam had finished, they departed going toward the mosque as if they were a neck (a group). I said to him, "Do you not see the people?" He said, "This is an innovation and abandonment of the Sunnah."
