✧ Concerning me this verse was revealed: {And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of his head, then a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice}. I said, “How was your situation?” He said: “We went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ while we were in a state of iḥrām, and lice fell into my head, my beard, and my moustache until they reached my eyebrows. That was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: ‘I did not think it had reached with you to this extent. Call the barber.’ So he called the barber and he shaved his head. Then he said: ‘Do you have a sacrificial animal?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then fast three days, or feed six needy people, with a ṣāʿ between every two needy people.’ Thus it was revealed concerning me specifically and for the people generally.”
