✧ This verse was revealed concerning me. I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Come closer." I came closer two or three times. He said, "Do your vermin trouble you?" Ibn ʿAwn said: I think he said, "Yes." Then he commanded me to fast, or to give charity, or to offer a sacrifice, whatever was easy. Ibn ʿAwn said: I forgot what he said about the fasting and the charity, so I discussed it with Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, and he said, "I heard this hadith from him." I said, "How is it?" He said, "Fasting three days, or charity to six needy people, or a sacrifice, whatever was easy." Ayyūb used to say that he said, "Do the vermin of your head trouble you?"
