حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ ابْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ هَلَكَ فَقَالَتْ

أُمُّ مُبَشِّرٍ أَقْرِئِ ابْنِي مُبَشِّرًا مِنِّي السَّلَامَ فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرْوَاحُ الشُّهَدَاءِ فِي طَيْرٍ خَضِرٍ تَعْلُقُ حَيْثُ شَاءَتْ» قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ قَالَ «هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُهُ»

✧ Umm Mubashshir said: Convey to my son Mubashshir from me greetings of peace. Ka'b said: It is not like this that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it; rather the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The souls of the martyrs are in green birds that hang wherever they wish.' She said: Then I seek Allah's forgiveness. He said: 'This is how I heard it.'
