حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّوَاسِبِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

قِيلَ لِقُثَمَ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ كَيْفَ وَرِثَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِيٌّ دُونَ الْعَبَّاسِ؟ قَالَ «لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَنَا بِهِ لُحُوقًا وَأَشَدَّنَا بِهِ لُزُوقًا»

✧ It was said to Qutham b. al-Abbas: How did 'Ali inherit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the exclusion of al-Abbas? He said: "Because he was the first of us to join him and the closest of us in attachment to him."
