✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “There will be a sound in Ramadan.” They said, “O Messenger of God, at its beginning, or in its middle, or at its end?” He said, “No, rather in the middle of Ramadan, when the night of the middle is the night of Friday, there will be a sound from heaven by which seventy thousand will be thunderstruck, seventy thousand will be struck dumb, seventy thousand will be blinded, and seventy thousand will be made deaf.” They said, “O Messenger of God, who among your community will be safe?” He said, “Whoever stays in his house, seeks refuge through prostration, and raises his voice in glorifying God with takbīr, then another sound will follow it. The first sound is the sound of Gabriel, and the second is the sound of Satan. The sound is in Ramadan, the turmoil is in Shawwāl, the tribes are separated in Dhū al-Qaʿdah, and raids are made on pilgrims in Dhū al-Ḥijjah and in Muḥarram. And what is Muḥarram? Its beginning is a trial for my community, and its end is a joy for my community. A riding camel in that time with its saddle will be enough for a believer to escape from a village that yields a hundred thousand.”
