حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ الصَّائِغُ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْجَعْفَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الرَّبْعِيُّ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

بُعِثَ إِلَي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرْوَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْجُذَامِيُّ بِإِسْلَامِهِ وَأَهْدَى لَهُ بَغْلَةً بَيْضَاءَ وَكَانَ فَرْوَةُ غُلَامًا لِقَيْصَرَ مَلِكِ الرُّومِ عَلَى مَنْ يَلِيهِ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ وَكَانَ مَنْزِلُهُ عُمَانَ وَمَا حَوْلَهَا فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الرُّومُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ حَبَسُوهُ فَقَالَ فِي مَحْبَسِهِ

✧ Farwa b. ʿĀmir al-Judhāmī had sent the Messenger of God ﷺ his submission to Islam and gifted him a white mule. Farwa was a servant of Caesar, the king of the Byzantines, appointed over the Arabs under his authority. His dwelling was ʿUmān and its surroundings. When the Byzantines learned of his affair, they imprisoned him. He said in his prison: [poem].
