حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانُ الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ثنا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ حَدَّثَنِي الشَّمِيطُ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنِي فَتًى مِنَ الْحَيِّ أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَبْسًا أَوْ ابْنَ عَبْسٍ فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ أَتَوْهُ فَقَالَ عِمْرَانُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اغْزُ بَنِي فُلَانٍ مَعَ فُلَانٍ» قَالَ فَصَفَفْنَا الرِّجَالَ فَكَانَتِ النِّسَاءُ وَرَاءَ الرِّجَالِ ثُمَّ لَمَّا رَجَعُوا قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اسْتَغْفِرِ لِي غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكَ قَالَ «هَلْ أَحْدَثْتَ؟» قَالَ لَمَّا هُزِمَ الْقَوْمُ أَدْرَكْتُ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ وَالنِّسَاءِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ أَوْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ فَقَتَلْتُهُ لَا وَاللهِ مَا فَعَلْتُ فَلَمْ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَى مَا أُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ إِلَّا عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَاللهِ لَا اسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ» أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ قَالَ فَمَاتَ بَعْدُ فَدَفَنَهُ عَشِيرَتُهُ فَأَصْبَحَ نَبَذَتْهُ الْأَرْضُ ثُمَّ دَفَنُوهُ وَحَرَسُوهُ ثَانِيَةً فَنَبَذَتْهُ الْأَرْضُ ثُمَّ قَالُوا لَعَلَّ أَحَدًا جَاءَ وَأَنْتُمْ نِيَامٌ فَأَخْرَجَهُ فَدَفَنُوهُ ثَالِثَةً وَحَرَسُوهُ فَنَبَذَتْهُ الْأَرْضُ ثَالِثَةً فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا ذَلِكَ أَلْقَوْهُ أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go raid the tribe of so-and-so with so-and-so." He said: We lined up the men, and the women were behind the men. Then when they returned, a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me, may Allah forgive you." He said, "Have you done something new?" He said, "When the people were defeated, I caught a man from the people and the women, and he said, 'I am a Muslim,' or he said, 'I have embraced Islam,' but I killed him. By Allah, I did not do it." He did not seek forgiveness for him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For what do I fight the people except for Islam? By Allah, I will not seek forgiveness for you," or as he said. He said: He died later, and his clan buried him, but in the morning the earth threw him out. Then they buried him again and guarded him, but the earth threw him out a second time. Then they said, "Perhaps someone came while you were sleeping and took him out." So they buried him a third time and guarded him, but the earth threw him out a third time. When they saw that, they left him, or as he said.
