حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ أَبِي صَخْرَةَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ فَعَقَلْتُهَا بِالْبَابِ ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ وَأَتَاهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ فَقَالَ «اقْبَلُوا الْبُشْرَى» فَقَالُوا قَدْ قَبْلِنَا فَأَعْطِنَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُمْ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ «اقْبَلُوا الْبُشْرَى وَلَا تَقُولُوا كَمَا قَالَ بَنُو تَمِيمٍ» فَقَالُوا قَدْ قَبِلْنَا فَأَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ أَوَّلِ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَقَالَ «كَانَ اللهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ غَيْرُهُ وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ» فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ حُصَيْنٍ أَدْرِكْ نَاقَتَكَ فَذَهَبْتُ فَلَحِقْتُهَا بِالسَّرَابِ وَايْمُ اللهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ تَرَكْتُهَا

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ on a she-camel; I hobbled it at the door, then entered. Some people from Banu Tamim came to him and he said, “Accept the good news.” They said, “We have accepted, so give us.” He turned away from them. Then some people from Yemen came to him and he said, “Accept the good news, and do not say as Banu Tamim said.” They said, “We accept; so tell us about the beginning of this matter.” He said, “God was, and there was nothing other than Him. His Throne was upon the water.” Then a man came and said, “O Ibn Husayn, catch up with your she-camel.” So I went and caught up with it at the mirage. By God, I wish I had left it.
