✧ Banu Amir had captured two men from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ captured a man from Thaqif and took his camel, on which he used to outrun the pilgrims. The Prophet ﷺ passed by him while he was bound, and he said: "O Muhammad, O Muhammad." So he turned to him, and he said: "Why am I detained and the leading pilgrim camel taken?" He said: "Because of the crime of your allies." Banu Amir were allies of Thaqif. Then the Prophet ﷺ moved on, and he called him again: "O Muhammad." He answered him: "I am a Muslim." He said: "If you had said that while you were in control of your affair, you would have succeeded utterly." Then the Prophet ﷺ moved on, and he called him again, so he returned to him, and he said: "Feed me, for I am hungry." The Prophet ﷺ said: "This is your need." So he ordered food for him. Then the Prophet ﷺ ransomed the man for the two men who had been captured from his Companions. Some polytheists raided the outskirts of Madinah and took that camel, and among what they took they also took a woman. They took her to their camps. The woman got up during part of the night among their camels—they used to make them kneel at their courtyards—and whenever she approached a camel to ride it, it bellowed, so she left it, until she came to the camel of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and it was a docile camel; it did not bellow until she sat on its hindquarters, then she shouted at it and startled the people, so they rode in pursuit of her. While she was going and they were on her trail, she vowed that if God saved her on it, she would slaughter it. So she escaped. When she arrived in Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ was told: "This is your camel; so-and-so came on it; God saved her on it from the polytheists." The Prophet ﷺ was brought the woman and the camel, and he asked her: "What did you do?" She told him and said: "I vowed while they were pursuing me on it that I would slaughter it." The Prophet ﷺ said: "What a bad reward you gave it. Indeed, there is no fulfillment of a vow in disobedience, nor in what the son of Adam does not own."
