حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمَهْرِقَانِيُّ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُجَيْدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ
قَتَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ هُذَيْلٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَكَانَ الهدلي مُتَوَارِيًا فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ وَظَهَرَ النِّدَاءُ ظَهْرَ فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ فَذَبَحَهُ كَمَا تُذْبَحُ الشَّاةُ فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «قَتَلَهُ قَبْلَ النِّدَاءِ أَوْ بَعْدَ النِّدَاءِ؟» قَالُوا قَتَلَهُ بَعْدَ النِّدَاءِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ كُنْتُ قَاتِلًا مُؤْمِنًا بِكَافِرٍ لَقَتَلْتُهُ بِهِ وَلَكِنْ أَخْرِجُوا عَقْلِهِ» فَأَخْرَجُوا عَقْلِهِ فَبَدَأَ أَوَّلُ عَقْلٍ كان فِي الْإِسْلَامِ

✧ A man from Hudhayl killed a man from Khuza'ah in the Jahiliyyah. The Hudhali went into hiding. When it was the Day of the Conquest and the call became public, he appeared. A man from Khuza'ah met him and slaughtered him like a sheep is slaughtered. That was raised to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "Did he kill him before the call or after the call?" They said, "He killed him after the call." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If I were to kill a believer for a disbeliever, I would have killed him for him, but bring out his blood money." They brought out his blood money, and the first blood money in Islam began.
