حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا عَوْفُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ أَبُو غَسَّانَ الْمُرَادِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ الْكَلْبِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ عَفِيفِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ وَفْدٌ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَذَكَرُوا امْرَأَ الْقَيْسِ بْنَ حُجْرٍ الْكِنْدِيَّ وَذَكَرُوا بَيْتَيْنِ مِنْ شِعْرِهِ فِيهِمَا ذِكْرُ صَارِخٍ مَاءٍ مِنْ مِيَاهِ الْعَرَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ذَاكَ رَجُلٌ مَذْكُورٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْسِيٌّ فِي الْآخِرَةِ شَرِيفٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا خَامِلٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَعَهُ لِوَاءُ الشُّعَرَاءِ يَقُودُهُمْ إِلَى النَّارِ»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a delegation from Yemen came, and they mentioned Imru' al-Qays b. Hujr al-Kindi and quoted two lines of his poetry in which there is mention of Sarikh, one of the watering-places of the Arabs. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "That is a man renowned in this world, forgotten in the Hereafter; noble in this world, obscure in the Hereafter. On the Day of Resurrection he will come with the banner of the poets, leading them to the Fire."
