حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَارُودِيُّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الزِّيَادِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْفُرَاتِ مَوْلًى لِآلِ خَالِدِ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ الْكَلْبِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي فَرْوَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَفِيفِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذُكِرَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ذَاكَ رَجُلٌ مَذْكُورٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْسِيٌّ فِي الْآخِرَةِ شَرِيفٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا خَامِلٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِيَدِهِ لِوَاءُ الشُّعَرَاءِ يَقُودُهُمْ إِلَى النَّارِ»

✧ While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Imru' al-Qays was mentioned, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "That is a man renowned in this world, forgotten in the Hereafter; noble in this world, obscure in the Hereafter. On the Day of Resurrection he will come holding the banner of the poets, leading them to the Fire."
