حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَى ذِي كَلَاعٍ وَكَعْبٌ يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ عَوْفٌ لِذِي كَلَاعٍ أَلَا تَنْهَ ابْنَ أَخِيكَ هَذَا عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ إِلَّا أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ»

✧ He entered the mosque leaning on Dhu Kalaʿ while Kaʿb was telling stories to the people. ʿAwf said to Dhu Kalaʿ: "Will you not forbid this nephew of yours from what he is doing? For I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'No one tells stories to the people except a ruler, one commanded, or a boaster.'"
