حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّ حَبِيبَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ أَتَى بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ غَلَّ فَرَبَطَهُ إِلَى جَانِبِ الْمَسْجِدِ وَأَمَرَ بِمَتَاعِهِ فَأُحْرِقَ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى قَامَ فِي النَّاسِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَذَكَرَ الْغُلُولَ وَمَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ فِيهِ فَقَامَ عَوْفُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِيَّاكُمْ وَمَا لَا كَفَّارَةَ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يُرْبِي ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ فَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ {وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَغُلَّ وَمَنْ يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ} وَإِنَّ اللهُ يَبْعَثُ آكِلَ الرِّبَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَجْنُونًا مُخَنَّقًا
Translation

✧ O people, beware of sins for which there is no expiation. A man may commit usury and then repent, and Allah will turn to him, yet Allah, exalted is He, says: “It is not for a prophet to be treacherous, and whoever is treacherous will bring what he treacherously took on the Day of Resurrection.” Indeed, Allah will raise the consumer of usury on the Day of Resurrection insane, choking.
