حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا ابْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ أنا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْيَقْظَانِ عَنْ زَاذَانَ عَنْ عَلِيمٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ عَنْ عَابِسٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ رَأَى قَوْمًا يَتَرَحَّلُونَ فَقَالَ
مَا لَهُمْ؟ قَالُوا يَفِرُّونَ مِنَ الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَ يَا طَاعُونُ خُذْنِي إِلَيْكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَمٍّ لَهُ أَتَتَمَنَّى الْمَوْتَ؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ عِنْدَ خِصَالٍ سِتٍّ عِنْدَ إِمَارَةِ السُّفَهَاءِ وَبَيْعِ الْحُكْمِ واسْتِخْفَافٍ بِالدَّمِ وَكَثْرَةِ الشُّرَطِ وَقَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِمِ وَنَشْوٍ يَتَّخِذُونَ الْقُرْآنَ مَزَامِيرَ يُقَدِّمُونَ الرَّجُلَ لِيُغَنِّيَهُمْ وَلَيْسَ بِأَفْقَهِهِمْ زَادَ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْإِسْنَادِ عُلَيْمًا الْكِنْدِيِّ

✧ What is the matter with them? They said, 'They are fleeing from the plague.' He said, 'O plague, take me to you!' A cousin of his said to him, 'Do you wish for death?' He said, 'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Wish for death when six traits appear: the rule of fools, the selling of judgment, the cheapening of blood, the proliferation of police, the severing of family ties, and a generation that takes the Qur'an as musical instruments, putting forward a man to sing to them even though he is not the most knowledgeable among them.' Sharīk added in the chain: 'Ulaym al-Kindī.
