حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَلَّافُ ثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ حِقٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْفٍ وَهِشَامٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ خَرَجَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ إِلَى مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ وَهُوَ أَمِيرٌ عَلَى مِصْرَ وَكَانَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النُّوَّابِ شَيْءٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَى دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مَرْحَبًا بِأَخِي أَتَانِي زَائِرًا قَالَ
لَمْ آتِكَ زَائِرًا وَلَكِنْ حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كُنْتَ مَعِي يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ «مَنْ عَلِمَ مِنْ أَخِيهِ سَيِّئَةً فَسَتَرَهَا عَلَيْهِ سَتَرَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

✧ “I did not come to you as a visitor, but rather a hadith I heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ when you were with me that day.” He said: “Whoever knows a fault of his brother and conceals it, God will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection.”
