حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
وَعَدَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي أَصْلِ الْعَقَبَةِ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَنَحْنُ سَبْعُونَ رَجُلًا قَالَ عُقْبَةُ إنِّي لَأَصْغَرُهُمْ سِنًّا فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَوْجِزُوا فِي الْخُطْبَةِ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ كُفَّارَ قُرَيْشٍ» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ سَلْنَا لِرَبِّكَ وَسَلْنَا لِنَفْسِكَ وَسَلْنَا لِأَصْحَابِكَ وَأَخْبِرْنَا مَا لَنَا مِنَ الثَّوَابِ عَلَى اللهِ ﷻ وَعَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ «أَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُ لِرَبِّي تُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا وَأَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُ لِنَفْسِي فَإِنِّي أَسْأَلُكُمُ أنْ تُطِيعُونِي أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ الرَّشَادِ وَأَسْأَلُكُمْ لِي وَلِأَصْحَابِي أَنْ تُواسُونَا فِي ذَاتِ أَيْدِيكُمْ وأَنْ تَمْنَعُونَا مِمَّا مَنَعْتُمْ مِنْهُ أَنْفُسَكُمْ فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلَكُمْ عَلَى اللهِ الْجَنَّةُ وَعَلَيَّ» قَالَ فَمَدَدْنَا أَيْدِيَنَا فَبَايَعْنَاهُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made an appointment with us at the foot of al-'Aqabah on the day of al-Adha, and we were seventy men. 'Uqbah said: Indeed, I am the youngest of them in age. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and said: "Be brief in the sermon, for I fear for you the disbelievers of Quraysh." We said: O Messenger of Allah, ask for us from your Lord, and ask for us for yourself, and ask for us for your companions, and tell us what reward we have from Allah ﷻ and from you. He said: "As for what I ask for my Lord, that you believe in Him and not associate anything with Him. As for what I ask for myself, I ask you to obey me, and I will guide you to the path of right guidance. And I ask you for me and for my companions that you share with us from what you possess and that you protect us from what you protect yourselves. If you do that, then you will have Paradise from Allah and from me." He said: So we stretched out our hands and pledged allegiance to him.
