حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ قِرَاءَةً فَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْقِرَاءَةُ وَاحِدَةً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْهِجْرَةُ وَاحِدَةً فَأَفْقَهُهُمْ فِقْهًا فَإِنْ كَانَ الْفِقْهُ وَاحِدًا فَأَكْبَرُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يُؤَمَّنَّ رَجُلٌ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يُجْلَسْ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "The one who should lead a people in prayer is the one with the most Qur'anic recitation among them; if the recitation is equal, then the earliest of them in emigration; if the emigration is equal, then the most understanding of them in jurisprudence; if the jurisprudence is equal, then the eldest of them. No man should lead in the domain of another man's authority, and no one should sit on his place of honor in his house except with his permission."
