حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِشْكَابَ الْكُوفِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ
يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ وَكَانَ لَهُ غُلَامٌ لَحَّامٌ فَقَالَ لِغُلَامِهِ إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْجُوعَ لَعَلِّي أَدْعُوهُ خَامِسَ خَمْسَةٍ فَصَنَعَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ طَعَامًا فَدَعَاهُ خَامِسَ خَمْسَةٍ فَتَبِعَهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ تَبِعَنَا رَجُلٌ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ تَأْذَنَ لَهُ فَائْذَنْ لَهُ»
Translation

- Bakr b. Sahl
✧ He was called Abu Shuʿayb, and he had a slave who was a butcher. He said to his slave, "I have seen hunger in the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Perhaps I will invite him as the fifth of five." He prepared food for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and invited him as the fifth of five. A man followed them, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man has followed us, so if you wish to permit him, then permit him."
