حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثَنَا أَبِي ثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْقُرَظِيِّ قَالَ
«كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَكَمَ عَلَيْهِ سَعْدٌ فَشَكُّوا فِيَّ أَمِنَ الْمُقَاتِلَةِ أَنَا أَمْ مِنَ الذُّرِّيَّةِ فَنَظَرُوا إِلَى عَانَتِي فَوَجَدُوهَا لَمْ تَطْلُعْ فَأَلْقُونِي فِي الذُّرِّيَّةِ»

✧ I was among those against whom Saʿd passed judgment, and they were uncertain about me—whether I was one of the fighting men or one of the dependents. So they looked at my pubic area and found that it had not yet appeared, and they placed me among the dependents.
