حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شيران الرامهرمزي ثَنَا زُرَيْقُ بْنُ السَّخْتِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْوَاقِدِيُّ ثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَرِيضَةً بَاعَدَ اللهُ مِنْهُ جَهَنَّمَ كَمَا بَيْنَ السَّمَوَاتِ والْأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَمَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا تَطَوُّعًا بَاعَدَ اللهُ مِنْهُ جَهَنَّمَ مَسِيرَةَ كَمَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever fasts one day in the path of Allah as an obligatory act, Allah will distance Hell from him as far as the seven heavens and the seven earths. Whoever fasts one day voluntarily, Allah will distance Hell from him a distance like that between the heaven and the earth."
