حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثَنَا أبو بَكْرُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا ثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْمُسَيَّرُ الطَّائِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ النَّرْسِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ ثَنَا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ
أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ إِلَى مَجْلِسِهِمْ فَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَتَقَدَّمَ إمَامُهُمْ فَأَطَالَ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْجُلُوسَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ مَنْ أَمَّنَا مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُتِمَّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَإِنَّ خَلْفَهُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَالْمَرِيضَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ تَقَدَّمَ عَدِيٌّ وَأَتَمَّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَتَجَوَّزَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ «هَكَذَا كُنَّا نُصَلِّي خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ ابْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ

✧ He went out to their gathering, and the prayer was established. Their imam stepped forward and lengthened the prayer and the sitting. When he finished, he said: "Whoever of you leads us in prayer should complete the bowing and prostration, for behind him are the young, the old, the sick, the traveler, and the one in need." When the prayer time came, ʿAdī stepped forward, completed the bowing and prostration, and shortened the prayer. When he finished, he said: "This is how we used to pray behind the Prophet ﷺ." The wording is that of the hadith of Ibn Mahdī.
