✧ Abu Junadah narrated to us, and he used to live among Banu Sulul. Al-Aʿmash narrated to us from Khaythama b. ʿAbd al-Rahman from ʿAdi b. Hatim, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: On the Day of Resurrection, some people will be commanded to go to Paradise, until when they draw near to it and smell its fragrance and look at its palaces and what God has prepared for its inhabitants therein, they will be called: Turn them away from it. There is no share for them in it. So they will return with a regret the like of which the first ones did not return with. They will say: Our Lord, if only You had admitted us to the Fire before showing us the reward and what You have prepared in it for Your friends, that would have been easier for us. He will say: That is what I intended for you. When you were alone, you confronted Me with grave sins, and when you met people, you met them humbly. You showed people the opposite of what you gave Me from your hearts. You feared people and did not fear Me. You held people in awe but did not revere Me. You left things for people but did not leave anything for Me. So today I will make you taste the painful punishment along with depriving you of the reward.
