حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثَنَا آدَمُ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّيْدِ؟ فَقُلْتُ أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي وأُسَمِّي فَأَجِدُ مَعَ كَلْبِي كَلْبًا آخَرَ وَلَا أَدْرِي أَيُّهُمَا أَخَذَهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّمَا سَمَّيْتَ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تُسَمِّ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the game. I said: 'I send my dog and invoke the name, and I find another dog with it, and I do not know which of them caught it.' He said: 'Do not eat, for you invoked the name over your dog, but you did not invoke it over the other.'
