حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ بَيَانٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ نَصِيدُ بِهَذِهِ الْكِلَابِ؟ قَالَ «إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كِلَابَكَ المُكَلَّبَةَ وَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهَا فَكُلْ مَا أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكَ وَإِنْ قَتَلْنَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الْكَلْبُ فَإِنْ أَكَلَ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِنَّمَا أمْسَكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ فَإِنْ خَالَطَهَا كِلَابٌ مِنْ غَيْرِهَا فَلَا تَأْكُلْ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying: 'We are a people who hunt with these dogs.' He said: 'When you send your trained dogs and mention the name of Allah over them, then eat what they hold back for you, even if they kill, unless the dog eats (from it). But if it eats, then do not eat, for I fear that it held it back for itself. And if other dogs mix with them, then do not eat.'
