حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْقَاضِي وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ قَالَا ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ
أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي فَأَجِدُ مَعَهُ كَلْبًا آخَرَ لَا أَدْرِي أَيُّهُمَا قَتَلَهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّمَا سَمَّيْتَ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تُسَمِّ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»

✧ He said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'I send my dog and find another dog with it, and I do not know which of them killed it.' He said: 'Do not eat, for you invoked the name over your dog, but you did not invoke it over the other.'
