حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَامِعٍ الْعَطَّارُ ثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الْعَبْسِيُّ ثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ قَالَ
قَدِمْتُ الشَّامَ أَلْتَمِسُ الْفَرِيضَةَ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ أَطَافَ بِهِ النَّاسُ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا عَمْرٌو الْبِكَالِيُّ أُصِيبَتْ يَدُهُ يَوْمَ الْيَرْمُوكِ يَوْمَ أُجْلِيَتِ الرُّومُ عَنِ الشَّامِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا كَانَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ يَأْمُرُونَكُمْ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ وَالْجِهَادِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ حَلَّتْ لَكُمْ الصَّلَاةُ خَلْفَهُمْ وَحُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَبُّهُمْ»

✧ I came to Syria seeking the obligatory share; and I saw a man around whom people had gathered. I said: “Who is this?” They said: “ʿAmr al-Bikali, whose hand was wounded on the day of Yarmouk, the day the Romans were expelled from Syria.” I heard him say: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When you have rulers who command you to pray, give zakah and perform jihad in the path of Allah, prayer behind them is permitted for you, and insulting them is forbidden for you.’”
