حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أنا خَالِدٌ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ أَحْسَبُهُ عَمْرَو بْنَ بُجْدَانَ عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ قَالَ
أقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْ دِيَارِ الْأَنْصَارِ وَجَدَ قُتَارًا فَقَالَ «مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي ذَبَحَ؟» فَخَرَجَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا يَوْمٌ الطَّعَامُ فِيهِ كَرِيهٌ قَالَ «فَأَعِدْ» قَالَ وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا جَذَعَةٌ أَوْ حَمَلٌ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ قَالَ «أَعِدْ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فَاذْبَحْهُ وَلَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ»

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ approached until he was in the midst of the dwellings of the Ansar and noticed the smell of roasting meat. He said: "Who is this who has slaughtered?" A man came out and said: "O Messenger of God, this is a day on which food is undesirable." He said: "Slaughter again." He said: "By God, I have nothing but a jadhaʿah or a lamb of sheep." He said: "Slaughter again" three times, then said: "Then slaughter it, and it will not suffice for anyone after you."
