حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ وَهِيَ تَذْكُرُ
شَأْنَ خَيْبَرَ «فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَبْعَثُ ابْنَ رَوَاحَةَ إِلَى الْيَهُودِ فَيَحْزُرُ النَّخْلَ حِينَ يَطِيبُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤْكَلَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ يُخَيِّرُونَ الْيَهُودَ بِأَنْ يَأْخُذُوهَا بِذَلِكَ الْخَرْصِ أَوْ يَدْفَعُوهَا إِلَيْهِمْ بِذَلِكَ وَإِنَّمَا كَانَ أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْخَرْصِ لِكَيْ تُحْصَى الزَّكَاةُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤْكَلَ الثِّمَارُ وَيُفَرَّقَ»

✧ The affair of Khaybar: "The Prophet ﷺ used to send Ibn Rawahah to the Jews, and he would estimate the date palms when they ripened, before any of it was eaten. Then the Jews would be given the choice to take it according to that estimate, or to hand it over to them for that amount. The Prophet ﷺ only ordered the estimation so that the zakah might be calculated before the fruits were eaten and dispersed."
