حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ فَقَالَ
«أَلَا تَنْطَلِقُ إِلَى الْمَنْزِلِ وَتُصَلِّي فِي مَسْجِدٍ صَلَّى فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَتَشْرَبُ فِي قَدَحٍ شَرِبَ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ» فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ لِي «إِنَّكَ بِأَرْضٍ فَاشٍ بِهَا الرِّيَاءُ وَإِنَّ مِنَ الرِّيَاءِ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ الرَّجُلُ السَّلَامَ فَيُهْدَى لَهُ فَيَقْبَلُهَا»

✧ “Will you not come to the house and pray in a mosque in which the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed and drink from a cup from which the Messenger of God ﷺ drank?” I went with him, and he said to me: “You are in a land where ostentation is widespread. Indeed, part of ostentation is that a man greets with salam and a gift is presented to him, and he accepts it.”
