حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَأَخَذَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَلَيَّ ثَوْبٌ مُتَمَزِّقٌ لَا يُوَارِينِي فَجَعَلْتُ كُلَّمَا سَجَدْتُ أَمْسَكْتُهُ بِيَدِي مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَنْكَشِفَ عَوْرَتِي وَخَلْفِي نِسَاءٌ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ دَعَا لِي بِثَوْبٍ وَكَسَانِيهِ وَقَالَ «تَوَدَّعْهُ يَخْلَقْكَ هَذَا» أَبُو الْحَسَنِ هَذَا الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ مُهَاجِرٌ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ شُعْبَةُ كُوفِيٌّ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى أَخُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was praying, and I stood on his left. The Messenger of God ﷺ took me and made me stand on his right. I had on a torn garment that did not cover me properly, so every time I prostrated I held it with my hand fearing that my private parts might be exposed, and behind me were women. When the Messenger of God ﷺ finished, he called for a garment for me and clothed me with it, and said: "Use it until this one wears out for you." Abu al-Hasan: this one from whom Sulayman b. Kathir narrated is Muhajir Abu al-Hasan; the one from whom Shu'ba narrated is a Kufan. And Abdullah b. Abd al-Rahman is Abdullah b. Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Layla, the brother of Muhammad b. Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Layla.
