حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ
عَنْ أَبِيهِ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْعَظِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَقِّنُوهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَكَيْفَ هِي لِلْأَحْيَاءِ؟ قَالَ «أَجْوَدُ وَأَجْوَدُ»
Translation

✧ From his father, regarding these words: "There is no god but God, the Forbearing, the Magnificent. Glory be to God, Lord of the Noble Throne, and praise be to God, Lord of the worlds." He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to say: "Prompt your dying with them." They said: "O Messenger of God, what about for the living?" He said: "Better and better."
