حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْمُقْرِئُ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ

سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنِي آدَمَ كُلَّهَا بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَقَلْبٍ وَاحِدٍ يُصَرِّفُهَا حَيْثُ شَاءَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ الْقُلُوبِ صَرِّفْ قَلْبِي إِلَى طَاعَتِكَ»

Translation

  4. Abū Hāniʾ
  5. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥman
  6. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr

Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger ﷺ said: 0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience. (Using translation from Muslim 2655)
