حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مابَهْرَامَ الْأَيْذَجِيُّ قَالَا ثنا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «كَيْفَ بِكَ إِذَا بِكَ بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَوْمٌ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَاخْتَلَفُوا وَصَارُوا هَكَذَا؟» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَدَعْ عَوَامَّهُمْ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “How will you be when you remain among the dregs of people—a people whose pledges and trusts have become corrupted, and who have differed and become like this?” And he interlaced his fingers. He said: “What do you command me, O Messenger of God?” He said: “Keep to what you know and abandon what you disapprove of; attend to your own self and leave their common folk.”
