حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ قَالَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مَعْنٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ
لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا كُنْتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فَصَارُوا هَكَذَا» ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ أَصَابِعَهُ بَعْضَهَا فِي بَعْضٍ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ تَأْخُذُ مَا تَعْرِفُ وَتَدَعُ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ خَاصَّتَكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَوَامَّهُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "How will you be when you are among the dregs of people whose covenants and trusts have become corrupted, and they have differed and become like this"—then he inserted his fingers into one another. I said, "How will it be for me, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Take what you know and leave what you reject, keep to your own special affairs, and beware of their common people."
