حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَطَّارُ قَالَا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ مَوْلَى الْعُمَرِيِّينَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قُدَامَةَ بْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجُمَحِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ عَبْدًا مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِجَلَالِ وَجْهِكَ وَلِعَظِيمِ سُلْطَانِكَ فَأُعْضِلَتْ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِيَا كَيْفَ يَكْتُبَانِهَا؟ فَصَعِدَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَا يَا رَبَّنَا إِنَّ عَبْدَكَ قَالَ مَقَالَةً لَا نَدْرِي كَيْفَ نَكْتُبُهَا فَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا قَالَ عَبْدُهُ مَاذَا قَالَ عَبْدِي؟ قَالَا يَا رَبُّ إِنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِجَلَالِ وَجْهِكِ وَلِعَظِيمِ سُلْطَانِكَ فَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لَهُمَا اكْتُبَاهَا كَمَا قَالَ عَبْدِي حَتَّى يَلْقَانِي عَبْدِي فَأَجْزِيَهُ بِهَا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told them that a servant among the servants of Allah said, “O Lord, to You belongs praise as befits the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your authority.” The two angels found it difficult and did not know how to record it. They ascended to the heaven and said, “O our Lord, Your servant said a statement that we do not know how to record.” Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said—and He is most knowing of what His servant said—“What did My servant say?” They said, “O Lord, he said: O Lord, to You belongs praise as befits the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your authority.” Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said to them, “Write it down as My servant said it, until My servant meets Me and I reward him for it.”
