حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي يَعْفُورَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ §مَا أَلْبَسُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ؟ قَالَ
مَا لَا يَزْدَرِيكَ فِيهِ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَا يَعِيبُكَ بِهِ الْحُكَمَاءُ قَالَ مَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ «مَا بَيْنَ الْخَمْسَةِ دَرَاهِمَ إِلَى الْعِشْرِينَ دِرْهَمًا»

✧ “What the foolish will not despise you for, and the wise will not fault you for.” He said, “What is that?” He said, “What is between five dirhams and twenty dirhams.”
