حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ وَعَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا الْحَيَّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ قَدْ حَالَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ فَلَسْنَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي شَهْرٍ حَرَامٍ فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَأْخُذُ بِهِ وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا قَالَ آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ الْإِيمَانِ بِاللهِ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَعَقَدَ بِيَدِهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ

✧ I heard Ibn ʿAbbas say: The delegation of ʿAbd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, this clan of Rabiʿah has been separated from you by the disbelievers of Mudar, so we cannot reach you except in a sacred month. Command us with a matter that we may adopt and to which we may call those behind us.” He said: “I command you with four things and forbid you from four: faith in Allah, the testimony that there is no god but Allah” — and he counted on his hand — “the establishment of prayer, the giving of zakah, fasting Ramadan, and that you pay one-fifth of what you take as spoils. And I forbid you from the dubba’, the hantam, the naqir, and the muzaffat.”
