حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ ابْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنْتُمْ لَهَا وَارِدُونَ} قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزِّبَعْرَى أَنَا أَخْصِمُ لَكُمْ مُحَمَّدًا فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَلَيْسَ فِيمَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَيْكَ {إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنْتُمْ لَهَا وَارِدُونَ} قَالَ «نَعَمْ» قَالَ فَهَذِهِ النَّصَارَى تَعْبُدُ عِيسَى وَهَذِهِ الْيَهُودُ تَعْبُدُ عُزَيْرًا وَهَذِهِ بَنُو تَمِيمٍ تَعْبُدُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ فَهَؤُلَاءِ فِي النَّارِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُمْ مِنَّا الْحُسْنَى أُولَئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ}

✧ When {Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the firewood of Hell; you will enter it} was revealed, ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zibaʿrā said: “I will contend with Muḥammad on your behalf.” He said: “O Muḥammad, is it not in what Allah has revealed to you: {Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the firewood of Hell; you will enter it}?” He said: “Yes.” He said: “These Christians worship ʿĪsā, these Jews worship ʿUzayr, and these Banū Tamīm worship the angels—are they all in the Fire?” Then Allah, may He be exalted, revealed: {Indeed, those for whom the best has preceded from Us, they will be far removed from it.}
