حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيِّ عَنِ الصَّبَّاحِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُزَنِيِّ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ الدُّهْنِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُغَسِّلُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ فَقَالَ أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ إِلَّا أَعْطَيْتُمُونِي الْيَوْمَ نَصِيبًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ أَدْخِلُوهُ وَاجْعَلُوهُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ السِّتْرِ يُنَاوِلُنَا الْمَاءَ فَأَدْخَلْنَاهُ فَكَانَ يُنَاوِلُنَا الْمَاءَ وَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَاللهِ مَا كُنْتُ أُقَلِّبُهُ إِلَّا كَانَ مَعِي آخَرُ يُقَلِّبُهُ قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُ فِي الْبَيْتِ لَا تَنْزِعُوا عَنْهُ الْقَمِيصَ
Translation
Chain of narrators

✧ While we were washing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man came and knocked on the door, saying: I remind you of Allah—will you not give me today a share of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? ʿAli said: Let him in and place him behind the curtain; he will hand us the water. We let him in, and he handed us the water. And ʿAli said: By Allah, I did not turn him except that another was with me turning him. He said: And I heard in the house: Do not remove the shirt from him.
