حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْأَبَّارُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَعَثَ مُعَاذًا عَلَى الْيَمَنِ قَالَ «إِنَّكَ تَقْدُمُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ أَهْلِ كِتَابٍ فَلْيَكُنْ أَوَّلُ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ عُبَادَةَ اللهِ فَإِذَا عَرَفُوا ذَلِكَ فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللهَ ﷻ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي يَوْمِهِمْ وَلَيْلَتِهِمْ فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ زَكَاةً تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ فَتُرَدُّ عَلَى فُقَرَائِهِمْ فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَخُذْ مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّقِ كَرَائِمَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Muadh to Yemen, he said, “You will come upon a people of the Book. Let the first thing to which you call them be the worship of Allah. When they acknowledge that, then inform them that Allah ﷻ has obligated upon them five prayers in their day and night. When they do that, then inform them that Allah has obligated upon them a zakah to be taken from their wealth and returned to their poor. When they do that, then take from them, and beware of taking the best of their wealth.”
