حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ حَدَّثَنِي بُكَيْرٌ الطَّائِيُّ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ فَلَقِيتُ كُرَيْبًا فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ فَرَمَقْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَمْ يُصَلِّي فَقَامَ فَبَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ فَأَطْلَقَ شِنَاقَهَا وَصَبَّ فِي قَصْعَةٍ أَوْ جَفْنَةٍ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا حَسَنًا بَيْنَ الْوُضُوءَيْنِ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي فَجِئْتُ فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَأَخَذَنِي فَجَعَلَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَتَكَامَلَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ اللَّيْلَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ نَامَ وَكَانَ يُعْرَفُ نَوْمُهُ بِنَفْخِهِ فَنَامَ حَتَّى نَفَخَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ أَوْ فِي دُعَائِهِ «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي سَمْعِي نُورًا وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا وَفِي قَلْبِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا وَعَنْ شِمَالِي نُورًا وَعَنْ أَمَامِي نُورًا وَخَلْفِي نُورًا وَفَوْقِي نُورًا وَتَحْتِي نُورًا وَاجْعَلْ لِي نُورًا»

✧ I spent the night at the house of my maternal aunt Maymunah, and I observed how many rak'ahs the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed. He got up, urinated, then came to the water skin, loosened its strap, and poured water into a bowl or a large dish. He washed his face and forearms, then slept. Then he got up and performed a good wudu between two wudus, then stood to pray. I came and stood on his left. He took hold of me and placed me on his right. The prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the night was completed at thirteen rak'ahs. Then he slept, and his sleep was known by his snoring. He slept until he snored, then went out for the prayer. He used to say in his prayer or in his supplication: "O Allah, place light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my heart, light on my right, light on my left, light in front of me, light behind me, light above me, and light below me, and grant me light."
