حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِي يَدِ رَجُلٍ فَنَزَعَهُ فَطَرَحَهُ وَقَالَ «يَعْمَدُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى جَمْرَةٍ مِنْ نَارٍ فَيَجْعَلُهَا فِي يَدِهِ» فَقِيلَ لِلرَّجُلِ بَعْدَمَا ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خُذْ خَاتَمَكَ تَنْتَفِعْ بِهِ قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ لَا آخُذُهُ وَقَدْ طَرَحَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a gold ring on the hand of a man, so he removed it and threw it away, and said: “Would one of you deliberately take an ember of fire and place it in his hand?” After the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left, it was said to the man, “Take your ring and benefit from it.” He said, “No, by Allah, I will not take it after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has thrown it away.”
