حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ثنا عَيَّاشُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ شُيَيْمِ بْنِ بَيْتَانَ عَنْ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ حِينَ جَلَدَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ سَرَقَا مِنْ غَنَائِمِ النَّاسِ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي مِنْ قَطْعِهمَا إِلَّا بُسْرُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ وَجَدَ رَجُلًا يَسْرِقُ فِي الْغَزْوِ فَجَلَدَهُ وَلَمْ يَقْطَعْ يَدَهُ وَقَالَ «نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْقَطْعِ فِي الْغَزْوِ»

✧ That he said on the pulpit when he flogged the two men who had stolen from the people's spoils: “Nothing prevented me from cutting off their hands except that Busr b. Arta'a found a man stealing during a military expedition, so he flogged him and did not cut off his hand, and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from amputation during a military expedition.'”
