حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ثنا ثنا هِلَالُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى حَصِيرٍ قَدْ أَثَّرَ فِي جَنْبِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوِ اتَّخَذْتَ فِرَاشًا أَوْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا قَالَ «مَا لِي وَلِلدُّنْيَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا كَرَاكِبٍ سَارَ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ فَاسْتَظَلَّ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ سَاعَةً مِنْ نَهَارٍ ثُمَّ سَارَ وَتَرْكَهَا»

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab entered upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was on a mat that had left marks on his side, and he said: “O Messenger of God, if only you would take a bed softer than this.” He replied: “What have I to do with this world? By Him in Whose hand is my soul, my likeness and the likeness of this world is only that of a rider who travels on a scorching day, seeks shade under a tree for an hour of the day, then moves on and leaves it.”
