حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الثَّعْلَبِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى الْأَسْلَمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعْدٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ
قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُهْلَكُ الْقَرْيَةُ فِيهِمِ الصَّالِحُونَ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَقِيلَ لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «بِتَهاوُنِهِمْ وسُكُوتِهِمْ عَنْ مَعَاصِي اللهِ»

✧ It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, will a town be destroyed while the righteous are in it?" He said: "Yes." It was said: "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Because of their negligence and their silence regarding the disobedience of Allah."
